It only took a minute to catch the delicious scent of human blood, and another to drain the human completely. She didn't enjoy the kill, she never did but it was a need she couldn't change, it was either feed or die. When Carmela was first turned she wanted to die, but being newborn she couldn't resist, couldn't control it. She learned to control it somewhat she was fairly new but no longer a newborn, though she still had trouble controlling her hunger when a human was close. Like the runner for instance, she had smelled him coming and tried to control it but couldn't, the hunger was too strong or she wasn't strong enough to control it, maybe both. Carmela watched as the light died from the humans eyes, her stomach twisting in knots but she could do nothing about it. This was who she was now, she was a monster...she killed to survive this was who she was now.

Carmela sighed sadly as she stared down at the human body where she let him fall, he was mid twenties a good looking human and still young in her eyes. He might of had a family, maybe someone who cared about him, no matter how many times she killed she always had this regret afterwards. She hated it, feeling guilty but not being able to stop. Anyways there was no need for her to stick around, she didn't want to leave the body but there was nothing she could do about it. So with a second look and hesitation she turned and walked away with incredible speed.

That was something she liked about being a vampire, the only thing, was how fast she could move, how strong she was and how good she could hear. She even had a new talent though she's always been able to manipulate people, now she could do it with a touch. Of course the people she could control weren't usually strong willed, and mostly human though she had met a vamp or two that she could control. But she didn't use it much, always on the move most of the time she used it she did it to keep them quiet or get information.

Carmela stopped walking and listened when she thought she heard something, at first she thought she was hearing things but no there it was again. Turning toward the sound she glared into the tree's listening and waiting. "Might as well come out I hear you, not very good at being silent are you." She shouted snobbishly as she waited for whoever it was to show themselves.

[Josephine Pryor]

It wasn't that unusual for Josephine to catch the scent of a vampire when she was prowling. But it still made her pause, inhaling deeply of the sweet floral scent. She didn't recognize this vampire, though that was not saying much. She preferred to stick to herself, though run-ins with others of her kind were inevitable. She was friendly enough, quite enjoying the socialization, but she quickly tired of it. She tired of the flawless beauty, the charm, the competition for food and attention. And so she left and went out on her own again to get a break.

Josephine had been travelling alone for a month now, picking her way through the Pacific Northwest, stopping to kill every few days to keep up her strength and good looks. Vanity was something that would never leave her. It had begun as a mere focus on her appearance as she had overheard a group of gossipy girls discussing her marriage prospects when she was human. One of them had said with her man-jaw she was more likely to eat a potential husband than marry him. If they'd only known how right they were then.

After a moment of examining the particular note of this vampire's fragrance, she elected to investigate the scent. Perhaps it was time to socialize again. Maybe she could get some tips on good hunting grounds, too. Making her way through the woods silently was not an issue for Josephine. It came with the territory of being a vampire. The grace she had acquired was an amplification of the grace her parents had trained into her, leaving her to be incredibly poised and lethal.

The vampire she came across was a young female, though she couldn't tell just by observation how long she'd been a young female. There was a human male that she was stalking and if Josephine had had a beating heart it would have raced excitedly as she watched her take down her prey. Tongues of flame snaked through her throat in a jealous thirst and she stepped forward reflexively, cracking a small twig beneath her foot.

She froze, knowing that the other vampire would surely have heard that. Gone was the thirst. Her knees bent slightly as she went into a slight defensive crouch in case she decided to attack. She did not, choosing instead to call out into the woods in an irritated voice. A smirk twisted her defined lips and she straightened, stepping out from the wood into the sight of the female. "Someone's a little testy," she murmured softly, though it would be no challenge for the other vampire to hear.

Josephine's eyes were brilliant red as she met the gaze of the other female. She did not bother to hide, seeing as how she had been travelling away from humans and another vampire would know she was a vampire long before they saw her. She allowed her gaze to slip to the recently deceased human, limp and drained of all his blood. "It's a pity you couldn't have had a little fun with him before you killed him." She paused and her smile widened. "Then again, Mother always told me not to play with my food."
