There he was, sitting by himself at the fountain in the square. No one else was there; it was around three am, and he had nothing better to do. Besides the occasional party goer, or jettlagged traveler, no one was out at this hour. He smiled a bit and greeted them as they went by. Then he went back to his book. He was reading "The Great Gatsby" for the hundreth time that year, literally. Living forever had it's disadvantages. Eventually, you grew bored, and found yourself sitting there with nothing to do. He sighed, and pushed the hair out of his eyes, moving about, trying to get comfortable. When he had found a position he liked, he lay back, ignoring the water. His book had a cover on it, and was quite dry. He smiled a bit. There was something about this that was really calming. Here, reading he didn't have to worry about a thing. He was his own person, and was free to read without being interupted. He smiled, then began to read aloud. There was no one there, so he wouldn't be a bother. Alastar did attempt an American accent when portraying Tom, but like most things, that didn't turn out right, either. He sighed, and just read to himself.
When he had finished, not acting suprised at the ending, he stretched, and approached the door, but stopped. It was only 4:30, the sun wasn't going to come up for another hour, or so. He smiled, and walked back to the fountain, where he said, thinking about what he had just read. " I honestly don't care that Gatsby died, it was quite a tragedy, but they shouldn't have made a big deal out of it." He said to himself, not realizing there was someone who had walked up to him. "Oh hello! I'm Alastar." He said, holding out his hand. He, or she seemed familar, like Alastar had seen them before, but for some reason they didn't reply. He blinked a bit, and awaited their reply, curiously.

Talia had been roaming around before she had to be sent off to do something later. She liked to walk around the town, to her it was a nice place and at night was the only time she could really ever walk about with anything covering her face up and not being able to see. She had just finished her nightly walk and was headed back in, she noticed that someone was by the fountain and smelt of the vampire scent as well. She approached him. Bored, curious as to who it would be, and felt as if she hadn't talked to someone in forever, not that the other person would care for the conversation much but it gave her something to do. She never really had a lot of friends and most likely wouldn't be as friendly as this person wanted.
She instantly knew who this was, another Voturi member which wasn't suprising. She didn't really know him, but has seen him around. Since she was the one they usually sent out to do things, she didn't know most of the others. She replied soon enough, "Hello Alaster, I am Talia." She paused as he stuck his hand out. She didn't shake it, instead she just stared at it for a moment before she explained, "I don't like contact with other people." She stared at his hand until it was with drawn. Then she just looked back up at him, much taller then herself. The book in his hand was something she noticed fast. "Gatsby dies in the end." She told him, not caring if he had finished the book or not.

"Yes, I KNOW he dies at the end, and unlike yourself, I've read it more than once, not just in high school." He said, drawing his hand back. 'Talia's ability probably has to do with contact.' He was thinking to himself. Then he blinked slightly, realizing how bitter he sounded. This girl was a part of the Volturi, and she had probably seen some things. He sighed and pushed his hair behind his ear. "Forgive me," he said, pausing. "I just like to be by myself, if you will." Then he picked up a copy of Hamlet, and smiled a bit, rehersing to himself, forgeting that the girl was there. He was rather quiet, and didn't really talk loud, then he looked at his watch. "Five am, best be walking inside." He said, still forgetting that the girl was there.
He had realized that he was being rude, and stopped for a moment. "Oh yes, Talia, that's your name correct? I'm sorry, again. That was rather rude, but you didn't seem like the type who enjoyed conversation anyways." He said, pausing. "It's five o'clock in the morning, and the sun is rising in thirty minutes according to the map that I was reading last night." He said, smiling, waiting for a reply, yet again.

"How do you know I haven't read it more then once?" She asked, a little frustrated. Even though it was true, books weren't a big interest for her but since she became a vampire and had a lot of extra time to herself she started reading a few more books recently but had not picked that one back up. "I'm older then I look you know." She reminded him. From what he was saying it sounded a lot like he wanted her to leave, so she turned around about to walk off as he was into Hamlet now. She found it a little strange that he talking to himself but ignored it.
When he stared to talk to someone besides himself she turned back around. "Yes it is my name, and I don't really care if your rude or not, act as you like." She told him, she was rude herself and didn't really care that much if he was too. "A map? You read a map that said when the sun rises?" She asked a little confused. "Obviously you enjoy your reading a lot. You musn't let me stop you, do as you please. I tend to just blend into the background anyways." She paused and sighed before she continued, "Then back we go, eh?" She stated more then asked as she turned and began to head back as he did, but continued to talk as they walked.
